My normal is not your normal. If life gets out of balance, then you rediscover the old ‘normal’ or get used to a new one.

They keep talking about “the new normal” after the coronavirus

Sometimes you can be a bit (or a lot) upset and sometimes everything is going smoothly. It is a wave of small dips and small peaks. Not too much, not too little.

What that standard line is of tension you can handle differs for everyone depending on your social, personal, and geographical circumstances. All these variables make your life unique.

Normal has gone in one fell swoop

One thing is certain: it is rare that the whole world loses its “normal” in one fell swoop. A tangle of people without a foothold, who are looking for meaning or react with completely ignoring the current circumstances. Simply because they can’t do anything about it or don’t know any better.

Isolation (mandatory or self-imposed) in contrast to the stupidity of throwing an “end of the world” party. Altruistic behaviours displayed by some are laced with the feeling of existential meaninglessness experienced by others.

On the one hand, the doctor saves lives with grim determination. On the other, the teenager throws a party to show “Corona” that he is not afraid. Both equally afraid, each responding to the unresolvable in their own way.

Never back to ”same old same old”, new abnormal is the norm

It is becoming increasingly clear that wherever you were born, your life will never be the same as it was before March 2020. This realization has not yet sunk in, but the signs are there getting more clear every day.

Oh yes, the negative sides of living with coronavirus in the coming years are evident: with a shortage of IC beds, an overheated medical system, and a very large vulnerable group. It will not be easy.

On the other side of this is the positive humane response of people reaching out to each other…
